Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Estimator to join our Pre-Construction team. This role supports the team in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of commercial projects. The Junior Estimator will work closely with senior estimators, project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure thorough and timely bid submissions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects, including ground-up and renovation work.
- Review drawings, specifications, and other bid documents to understand project scope and requirements.
- Perform quantity take-offs for assigned trades using digital estimating software and manual methods.
- Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Help level and compare subcontractor bids to ensure scope coverage and accuracy.
- Support the development of bid packages and proposal documents.
- Maintain organized project files and documentation for estimates and bids.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and scope review meetings as needed.
- Coordinate with project management teams during handoff from estimating to operations.
- Track historical cost data to support future estimates and budgeting.
Preferred Qualifications
- 0–2 years of experience in commercial construction, estimating, or a related role (internship experience acceptable).
- Basic understanding of construction methods, materials, and terminology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); familiarity with estimating software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Sage Estimating, or similar) preferred.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with digital takeoff tools.
- Knowledge of CSI divisions and commercial building systems (structural, MEP, envelope, finishes).
- Familiarity with bid management platforms such as BuildingConnected.
Work Environment
- Office-based role with occasional travel to job sites across the United States for pre-bid meetings and site visits.
