Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Senior SQL Database Administrator to provide comprehensive database support and technical expertise across our SQL Server environments. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of SQL Server architecture, advanced performance tuning strategies, and experience with high-availability solutions. You will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our SQL Server environments, while leading key initiatives and projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation and Configuration: Lead the installation, configuration, and deployment of SQL Server instances, both on-premises and in cloud environments. Ensure proper setup of SQL Server features, including database engine, replication, and reporting services.
  • Advanced Performance Tuning: Utilize tools such as SQL Profiler, Execution Plans, Performance Monitor, and DMVs to identify bottlenecks and optimize query execution and indexing strategies for maximum performance.
  • High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Implement and manage advanced high-availability solutions, including SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, clustering, log shipping, and replication. Develop robust disaster recovery strategies to ensure data protection and business continuity.
  • Backup and Recovery Management: Design and implement backup strategies using tools such as SQL Server Management Studio and PowerShell scripting. Ensure regular testing and validation of restore procedures.
  • Security and Compliance: Configure and manage security mechanisms, including Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), dynamic data masking, and role-based access control. Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and internal policies.
  • Database Optimization: Conduct schema reviews and index analysis, and implement automated maintenance plans using SQL Server Agent jobs. Optimize storage and I/O performance using partitioning and filegroup management.
  • Scripting and Automation: Develop and maintain complex T-SQL scripts for database automation tasks, data imports/exports, and application integration. Create PowerShell scripts for automating repetitive tasks across database environments.
  • Monitoring and Alerts: Establish monitoring and alerting systems using tools like SQL Server Agent, System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), and third-party solutions to proactively address issues before they affect operations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with developers to optimize database queries and stored procedures. Provide technical guidance and support during the application development lifecycle.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed technical documentation for configurations, processes, and solutions implemented within the SQL Server environment. Develop instructional materials for training and knowledge-sharing.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and coach junior DBAs, providing insights into advanced techniques and best practices within SQL Server administration.
  • Act with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold the firm’s respectful and courteous work environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in SQL Server Database Administration, working with SQL Server versions such as 2012, 2016, 2019, and SQL Server 2022.
  • Expertise in T-SQL programming and proficiency with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS).
  • Experience with cloud-based SQL Server deployments (e.g., Azure SQL Database, SQL Managed Instance) and hybrid on-premises/cloud solutions.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies and their impact on database performance.
  • Proficient in database migration strategies and techniques, including upgrades and consolidation projects.
  • Solid technical skills to troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues efficiently.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work
