KPMG is currently seeking an Associate General Counsel, Government Advisory to join our KPMG's Office of General Counsel (OGC), Practice Advisory Group.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary attorney counseling KPMG's Federal, State and Local Government Practices ("the Government Practice") on legal and regulatory matters applicable to government contractors and the provision of professional services; this could include, among other things, such matters as advising on regulatory requirements, potential disputes and remediation of potential non-compliance and changes in business structure and services; it would not typically include contract negotiation
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments and advise the Government Practice on their implications
- Support and enable the work of the Office of Government Contract Compliance; work closely with OGCs Government Contracting lawyers
- Minimum thirteen years of recent experience as a practicing attorney, ideally within a law firm, government agency, and/or in-house legal department
- Juris Doctor (JD) or Master of Laws (LLM) from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law in the US
- Deep experience in negotiating and advising on government contracts, ideally at both the Federal and state/local levels; experience litigating disputes regarding government engagements helpful
- Comprehensive knowledge of government procurement laws, rules and regulations at the Federal level and some knowledge of similar laws in some major state and local jurisdictions; familiarity with cybersecurity requirements applicable to government contractors, including for the Department of War helpful
- Proven experience advising stakeholders and delivering training on legal and regulatory matters
- Knowledge of and experience in the professional services industry
