KPMG is currently seeking an Actuarial Intern to join our Audit and Assurance team.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team assisting actuarial staff with reviewing client reserves and actuarial liabilities, including assessment of compliance with regulatory standards
- Prepare and analyze data, develop actuarial models and use statistical techniques to assess risk and project future financial outcomes
- Complete quantitative and qualitative analyses to evaluate risks associated with insurance products, providing insights on risk management strategies and supporting client decision-making
- Engage with clients to gather and organize data, translating complex actuarial concepts into actionable insights and recommendations
- Collaborate with colleagues in preparing analyses and delivering high-quality actuarial consulting services to clients
- Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing the following degrees/majors: Bachelors or Masters degree in Actuarial Sciences, Mathematics, Finance, Insurance, Risk Management, or related degree
- Upon completion of this internship, candidates must have additional academic credits to complete before obtaining their degree and/or CPA eligibility requirements
- Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above
- Pursuit of Actuarial Exams is preferred; preference for candidates who have passed at least one exam at time of application
- Knowledge of data analysis techniques and ability to navigate various computer applications, including MS Office applications (emphasis on Excel)
- Strong in technical, business acumen, critical thinking and agility skills; demonstrated ability to excel and drive strategic outcomes, coupled with a professional demeanor and a collaborative leadership approach, in a dynamic, evolving environment; strong communication, organization and relationship-building skills, with the ability to apply professional judgment and skepticism, manage priorities across multiple tasks and deliver high-quality work in a professional services capacity
- Applicant must reside within a reasonably commutable distance of the office for this position and be able to travel to reasonably commutable work locations using own means of transportation, such as personal vehicle or public transportation
- Work location may be in the office or at client sites, some of which may require travel and overnight/extended stay (varies by office); actuarial professionals may have the opportunity to work virtually/remotely in the U.S. depending on business needs
