What are the responsibilities and job description for the Client Accounting Specialist position at KP Accounting LLC?
Client Accounting Specialist
About Us
We’re a small (but growing) CPA firm in Abilene that works closely with small business clients each month. We don’t just “do bookkeeping and tax”, we help business owners understand their numbers and make better decisions. We’re building a team that takes ownership of their work, improves processes, and contributes ideas, not just completes tasks.
Position Overview
We are looking for a Client Accounting Specialist to support our bookkeeping and accounting team. This role is hands-on and client-focused, with exposure to a variety of industries and accounting functions. It’s a good fit for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working with systems, and taking ownership of their work.
What You’ll Do
- Perform bookkeeping for multiple small business clients
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts and resolve discrepancies
- Process payroll and maintain payroll records
- Assist with accounts payable and receivable by coding vendor bills and preparing customer invoices
- Prepare and file sales tax reports
- Assist with property tax renditions
- Support client projects and internal initiatives as needed
- Maintain organized and accurate client records across systems
- Assist with tax preparation during busy season
You will primarily work in QuickBooks Online, Gusto Payroll, Canopy (CRM), Double and Microsoft 365, along with other tools used across the firm.
A Day in the Life
No two days look the same, but here’s a snapshot of what your day might include:
- Reviewing your task list and checking for client updates
- Reconciling accounts and investigating items that don’t tie
- Categorizing and cleaning up transactions in QuickBooks Online
- Processing payroll and confirming accuracy
- Preparing a sales tax filing and reviewing before submission
- Working through a property tax rendition or gathering required data
- Collaborating with the team to solve issues and keep work moving
- Organizing client documents and improving internal processes
- Assisting with tax prep during busier times
Some days are structured and task-driven. Others involve more problem-solving and figuring things out. If you like variety and staying engaged, you’ll fit well here.

- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Comfortable using Excel and general computer systems
- Experience with or willingness to learn QuickBooks Online
- Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines

- Someone comfortable in a small team where expectations are high and support is available
Why Join Us
