What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Operations position at Kountry Kraft?
Director of Operations
Kountry Kraft | Newmanstown, PA
Lead the Operations Behind Exceptional Custom Cabinetry
For more than 65 years, Kountry Kraft has been building some of America's finest custom cabinetry.
As a second-generation, family-owned company, we combine traditional craftsmanship with modern manufacturing, innovative technology, and a culture built around quality, teamwork, continuous improvement, and taking pride in what we produce.
With more than 100 dedicated employees and a nearly 100,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Newmanstown, PA, we manufacture highly customized cabinetry for a nationwide network of dealers and discerning homeowners.
We're looking for an experienced Director of Operations to join our senior leadership team and help lead the next chapter of Kountry Kraft.
This is a significant leadership position for someone who knows how to build strong teams, improve manufacturing operations, solve complex problems, and create systems that allow great people to perform at their best.
About the Role
The Director of Operations will lead our manufacturing, maintenance, shipping, and retail installation operations while working closely with Sales, Order Processing, Engineering, Purchasing, and Executive Leadership.
You will be responsible for both the day-to-day performance of our operations and the longer-term strategies, processes, technology, capital investments, and people development needed to continually improve the business.
We are looking for a leader who can respect the craftsmanship and experience that have made Kountry Kraft successful while continuing to introduce better processes, technology, training, and operational discipline.
If you enjoy leading people, improving processes, solving problems, and seeing the tangible results of your work on a manufacturing floor, we'd like to meet you.
What You'll Do

- Oversee production scheduling, quality, productivity, cost controls, maintenance, safety, and on-time delivery
- Build, coach, and develop strong teams and future leaders
- Drive continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
- Identify operational challenges and lead teams in implementing effective solutions
- Evaluate and implement new technology, equipment, processes, and manufacturing capabilities
- Develop operational strategies, training programs, and capital investment plans
- Partner with Sales and other departments to improve operations and deliver an exceptional customer experience
What We're Looking For
- Proven success leading manufacturing operations and developing strong teams
- Strong knowledge of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing
- 10 years of progressive manufacturing and leadership experience
- Experience in custom, made-to-order, or complex manufacturing preferred
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, and production documentation
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Degree in engineering, cabinetry, manufacturing, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered in place of a degree
Cabinetry or woodworking industry experience is valuable, but we are also interested in accomplished manufacturing leaders from other custom or complex manufacturing environments.
The Leadership Style We're Looking For
This role requires more than managing production numbers.
We're looking for someone who is comfortable being visible on the manufacturing floor, listening to experienced employees, asking questions, making decisions, and holding people accountable.
You should be able to balance people, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost while never losing sight of the customer.
The right person will appreciate what has made Kountry Kraft successful for more than six decades while challenging us to continue getting better.
Why Kountry Kraft?
At Kountry Kraft, you're not joining a large corporate manufacturing operation where decisions are made hundreds of miles away.
You're joining a family-owned company with decades of history, highly skilled craftspeople, long-term employees, a respected dealer network, and a product people are proud to put their name on.
You'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on how we operate, how we develop our people, and how we prepare the company for its next generation of growth.
