Paid Government Relations Internship – Fall 2026
Kountoupes Denham Carr & Reid is a bipartisan lobbying firm in Washington, DC, representing public and private companies, trade associations, and non-profit organizations before Congress and the federal government. Our firm is comprised of a bipartisan and bicameral team of lobbyists who have spent decades in Washington working on legislative issues at the highest levels of government.
KDCR Partners is accepting applications for a paid internship for Fall 2026. This internship will be in person in our Washington, D.C., office. Fall internships can be full-time or part-time, depending on school schedules, but interns must be available most/all of the day Tuesdays-Thursdays each week. The compensation for this position is DC's minimum hourly wage.
Duties Include:
- Provide legislative and administrative support for seven legislative assistants, 11 principals and office administrator at a rapidly expanding lobbying firm with clientele that includes Fortune 500 companies, trade associations and non-profit organizations
- Attend hearings, markups, briefings, and other events virtually on behalf of the firm; produce high-quality briefing materials, issue summaries, and meeting notes
- Track legislation and regulations for clients
- Assist with scheduling of meetings on the Hill and “fly-ins” for large and small groups
- Conduct research on policy issues, legislative action, business development, and other issues, and draft concise summaries
- Assist with other administrative tasks related to office operations and client service
Requirements:
- Self-starter and quick learner
- Excellent writing and research skills, with strong attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced office
- Experience on Capitol Hill or at a lobbying firm or trade association is a plus, but not required
- Nimble and curious with a positive attitude and a good sense of humor
