Role Description The School Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, activities, and designated routes in Andover, MN. Day-to-day tasks include operating a school bus along assigned routes, following all traffic laws and company safety procedures, and performing basic pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle. The driver will assist students with boarding and exiting the bus as needed, maintain order and a positive environment on the bus, and communicate route or scheduling issues to dispatch or supervisors. This is a full-time, on-site role that requires punctuality, reliability, and a strong focus on safety and customer service.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong driving skills and at least two years with an active license.
- A valid CDL Class B (with appropriate school bus and passenger endorsements) is encouraged, but not required.
- Paid, on-site, training is offered for candidates that do not possess a valid CDL Class B license.
- Candidates should possess Defensive Driving skills and a solid understanding of traffic and safety regulations.
- Candidates should possess effective Communication and Customer Service skills for interacting with students, families, school staff, and coworkers.
- Clean driving record and ability to pass required background checks and drug screening.
- Ability to manage student behavior calmly and fairly, and respond appropriately in emergency or unexpected situations.
- Willingness to work early mornings and afternoons according to school schedules; previous school bus or commercial driving experience is beneficial.
