Position Summary
The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives are consistently achieved. This role leads production teams, drives continuous improvement, and partners cross-functionally to optimize performance while fostering a strong culture of accountability, engagement, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage daily production operations to meet output, quality, safety, and efficiency targets
- Directly manage and develop supervisors and/or team leads, providing coaching, performance feedback, and career development
- Establish and maintain standard work, production schedules, and labor plans aligned with business demand
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to improve throughput, reduce waste, and control costs
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards
- Develop KPIs to identify trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities; develop and execute action plans
- Partner with Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and HR to resolve operational issues and support plant objectives
- Support hiring, onboarding, training, and retention efforts to build a high-performing production team
- Lead daily production meetings, shift handoffs, and problem-solving discussions
- Champion a culture of employee engagement, accountability, and continuous learning
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
- 10 plus years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- Proven experience leading teams, managing supervisors, and driving performance improvement
- Strong working knowledge of manufacturing processes, production planning, and labor management
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or Operational Excellence tools preferred
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
