Chief Financial Officer β Construction (Relocation Assistance Provided)
Our client is a rapidly growing, private equity-backed infrastructure services company that operates a multi-state platform providing critical field-based infrastructure and utility services to a diversified customer base across communications, utility, and industrial end markets.
The Opportunity
The CFO will serve as a strategic and operational partner to the CEO and private equity sponsor, leading all aspects of the finance organization while helping drive performance, scalability, and enterprise value creation.
This executive will oversee accounting, financial planning and analysis, reporting, treasury, operational finance, and strategic initiatives, while supporting both organic growth and acquisition activity. The role requires a leader who can operate strategically while remaining deeply connected to day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Partner with executive leadership on growth strategy, operational planning, and business performance
- Support value creation initiatives focused on profitability, scalability, and cash flow optimization
- Provide financial insight and decision support across commercial and operational functions
- Assist in evaluating investments, expansion opportunities, and strategic initiatives
Financial Management & Reporting
- Lead all accounting, FP&A, treasury, and financial reporting activities
- Improve forecasting accuracy, KPI visibility, and management reporting capabilities
- Strengthen internal controls, financial processes, and reporting discipline
- Manage external audit, tax, and banking relationships
Operational Finance
- Partner closely with operations leadership to improve project-level profitability and cost visibility
- Enhance financial oversight across billing, collections, working capital, and cash conversion
- Improve financial discipline within a project-based operating environment
- Drive margin improvement and operational efficiency initiatives
M&A & Integration
- Support acquisition evaluation, diligence, financial modeling, and integration efforts
- Assist with post-acquisition reporting alignment and operational integration
- Partner with leadership and ownership on growth and expansion initiatives
Systems & Infrastructure
- Help scale financial systems, reporting tools, and operational processes
- Lead process improvement initiatives to support continued growth
- Enhance data visibility and analytical capabilities across the business
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop the finance organization
- Build scalable processes and organizational capabilities
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Candidate Requirements
- Prior CFO or senior finance leadership experience within a middle-market business
- Experience in private equity-backed environments strongly preferred
- Background in construction, infrastructure services, industrial services, utilities, or related industries preferred
- Strong expertise in financial planning, cash flow management, and operational finance
- Experience supporting acquisitions and integration activities preferred
- Familiarity with project accounting, job costing, or percentage-of-completion environments is highly beneficial
- Proven ability to improve processes, systems, and reporting infrastructure
