Position Overview
Korn Ferry has partnered with a growing middle markets Private Equity firm. We are seeking a highly motivated Assistant Controller to join our finance and operations team. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Assistant Controller will play a key role in overseeing the firm’s financial reporting, fund accounting, compliance, and internal controls. This is a high-visibility position with significant opportunity for advancement as the firm continues to scale.
Key Responsibilities
Corporate and Fund Accounting
- Assist in the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for both management and investors
- Oversee fund-level accounting activities, working closely with third-party fund administrators and auditors
- Support capital call and distribution processes, including investor allocations and IRR calculations
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements
Internal Controls and Operations
- Implement and enhance financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Assist with the annual audit process, including coordination with external auditors and tax advisors
- Prepare and maintain supporting documentation for compliance and operational processes
- Monitor and manage cash flow for corporate entities and investment vehicles
Strategic Support
- Partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Provide financial input on deal structuring, fund modeling, and portfolio company performance
- Support special projects, including systems implementations, new fund launches, and internal reporting enhancements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA strongly preferred)
- 5 years of experience in accounting or finance; public accounting experience and/or private equity/asset management exposure is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of GAAP, fund accounting principles, and financial reporting requirements
- Excellent Excel skills; experience with financial systems and fund administration platforms is a plus
- Self-starter with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a team-oriented mindset
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with high expectations for quality and performance
