What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Embedded System Engineer position at KORMESH, LLC?
About Kormesh
Kormesh is building next-generation infrastructure platforms to help cities meet the demands of the 21st century — safer, smarter, and sovereign by design.
Our technology gives public agencies and the communities they serve powerful new capabilities — improving daily life, enhancing public services, and reinforcing civic resilience. Everything we build is rooted in respect for privacy, public control, and national integrity.
We’re pre-launch, with a major prototype in development and two core technologies moving toward deployment under active patent protection. The company is led by a founder with deep political, financial, and strategic reach, supported by senior advisors with serious experience across public infrastructure, defense, and technology.
This is a ground-floor opportunity. The engineer we hire will help shape systems that deploy in the real world — not just concept decks — and play a key role in the company’s trajectory.
If you care about impact, ethics, and building systems, and are a very creative, intelligent engineer that wants to make an impact, let’s talk.
About the Role
We need a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer to lead the firmware stack that powers our outdoor hardware platforms. This role begins as a 60-90 day contract engagement. Upon building a good working relationship and completing or nearly completing the first prototype, the position converts to full-time with competitive salary and equity. We're looking for long-term builders, not mercenaries. If you’ve shipped real devices, built power-aware systems, and like working close to hardware, this is for you.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement firmware for power-constrained, outdoor IoT devices
- Develop power management systems including solar charging, battery management, and intelligent load scheduling
- Integrate and calibrate diverse sensor arrays (environmental, visual, RF, acoustic)
- Build reliable cellular and mesh communication stacks
- Implement over-the-air update mechanisms and remote diagnostics
- Create robust systems that recover gracefully from faults
- Take prototypes from proof-of-concept through production
What You Bring
Required:
- 5 years embedded systems development (C/C , Python)
- Deep experience with ARM-based platforms (Jetson, STM32, ESP32, or similar)
- Linux kernel and driver development
- Power electronics fundamentals (solar, battery management, DC-DC conversion)
- Sensor integration (I2C, SPI, UART, analog)
- Strong debugging skills (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, JTAG)
- Shipped physical products (not just prototypes)
Preferred:
- Solar system experience
- RTOS experience (FreeRTOS, Zephyr)
- Cellular modem integration (Quectel, Sierra Wireless)
- LoRa system experience
- Outdoor/industrial/automotive product background
- Edge AI deployment (TensorRT, ONNX)
