Your Role
As a Shipping & Receiving Assistant, you will help keep materials, products, and information moving efficiently throughout the organization. Working closely with the production and procurement teams, you will process shipments, receive deliveries, maintain an organized warehouse, and support inventory accuracy. This is a hands-on role and includes a variety of responsibilities across shipping and receiving, material handling, warehouse organization, inventory management, vehicle operation, and production support as needed during peak seasons.
Your Primary Responsibilities
- Unload trucks and verify delivery quantities. Inspect and document damage.
- Load trucks and verify the final count. Process all shipping documents.
- Receive deliveries into ERP system and submit paper copies to the office the same day as delivered.
- Maintain accurate daily records of goods received and shipments processed.
- Complete "Physical Inventory" reports.
- Issue, collect, and submit weekly discard sheets.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and troubleshoot count issues.
- Store materials organized by FIFO standards. Label pallets accordingly.
- Operate straight truck, forklift, standup reach truck, and floor scrubber.
- Keep dock clean including floors, trash cans, pallet storage, and receiving desk area.
- Dispose of materials properly; follow a daily and/or weekly baling schedule.
- Wrapping and labeling shipping pallets.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience with computerized inventory systems is required.
- Valid Chauffeur's license is required.
- Forklift operator experience is required.
- Reach truck and sit-down fork truck experience required.
Working Conditions
- Travel if needed to visit another facility or other off-site location to learn best practices.
- Regular exposure to bumble bees and the possibility of bee stings.
- Extreme hot or cold conditions.
- Seasonal overtime is required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to regularly stand or walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to fifteen (15) pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds, and occasionally lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to vibration, repetitive motion, bending, lifting, twisting, crouching, reaching, pushing, and/or pulling.
- Ability to endure heat or excessively cold conditions for a period of time.
