Job description

The Utility Painter is responsible for applying protective coatings to utility poles and pad-mounted equipment, ensuring long-lasting durability and appearance. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work in various environmental conditions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Apply protective coatings to wooden utility poles and pad-mounted equipment.
  • Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and removing old paint or rust.
  • Use brushes, rollers, and spray equipment to apply paint or other coatings.
  • Ensure uniform coverage and proper thickness of paint applications.
  • Follow safety protocols to protect themselves, the environment, and surrounding areas.
  • Perform routine maintenance on painting equipment and tools.
  • Document work performed and maintain accurate records of materials used.
  • Coordinate with other team members to complete projects efficiently.
  • Inspect painted surfaces for quality and adherence to specifications.

Candidate Qualifications/ Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be 21 with a valid driver's license
  • Proven experience in industrial painting or a related trade.
  • Knowledge of various types of paints, coatings, and application techniques.
  • Familiarity with surface preparation methods and safety practices.
  • Proficiency with painting tools and equipment (e.g., brushes, rollers, spray guns).
  • Understanding of safety practices related to painting and hazardous materials.
  • Commitment to following safety protocols and industry standards.
  • Additional training or certification in industrial painting is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure high-quality work.
  • Good physical stamina and coordination.
  • Ability to pass a background check and physical examination.
  • Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members and reporting to supervisors.
  • Problem-solving skills to address challenges during painting projects.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Must be willing to travel overnight and be available to work Monday thru Saturday.
  • Travel 60% of time
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
