What You Would Do Provide strategic leadership and vision for all community development functions. Guide long-range planning, permitting, and code administration in alignment with the County’s Comprehensive Plan and land use goals. Serve as a trusted advisor to the Board of County Commissioners, and a collaborative partner with local, state, and federal agencies. Champion process innovation, customer service excellence, and staff empowerment. Oversee budgets, staffing, and performance outcomes, ensuring accountability and results. You would excel in the role if: You’re an experienced public service leader who thrives at the intersection of policy, people, and place. You understand the complexities of land use and community growth—and you know how to bring teams together to deliver results that balance regulatory integrity with responsiveness to residents and developers alike. We Are Looking for a Candidate With Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Public Administration, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (master’s preferred). 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in community development, planning, or building administration, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role. Strong understanding of Idaho’s land use statutes, planning and zoning regulations, and building code administration. Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a collaborative, forward-thinking approach.
