Loss Prevention Specialist

Reports To: Safety/Loss Prevention Manager

We’re looking for a Loss Prevention Specialist to support our Safety and Loss Prevention programs across all Koopman locations. This role works directly under the Safety/Loss Prevention Manager to implement safety initiatives, monitor compliance, and help protect our employees, customers, and assets.
What You’ll Do
- Safety Responsibilities:
- Assist in conducting safety trainings, toolbox talks, and safety meetings to promote a safe work culture.
- Support on-site safety inspections and audits, documenting findings and action items.
- Participate in incident/accident investigations, including root cause analysis and follow-up on corrective actions.
- Help maintain required safety programs, documentation, and training records (OSHA, certifications, and internal reporting).
- Reinforce safety policies and procedures and provide feedback to encourage compliance.
- Assist with maintaining Workers’ Compensation claims documentation and follow-ups.
- Loss Prevention Responsibilities:
- Monitor public areas and CCTV systems for potential safety or security risks.
- Document incidents, thefts, or other violations and communicate findings to management.
- Support the implementation of loss prevention programs, including employee trainings, awareness campaigns, and safety literature.
- Participate in Claims Loss Control meetings and follow up on action items as assigned.
- Collaborate with management and employees to promote proactive loss prevention strategies.
What We’re Looking For
- We want proactive, detail-oriented individuals who can observe, document, and support safety and loss prevention initiatives.
Must-Haves:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow established programs and assist in creating new procedures.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and basic computer tools.
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of machine safeguarding, electrical safety, chemical safety, and hazard communication.
- Experience in loss prevention, safety inspections, or regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with safety program implementation and recordkeeping.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and inspect facilities for extended periods.
- Comfortable performing inspections, moving through warehouses or yard areas, and responding to on-site incidents.
