Role Description The Play Therapist will provide part-time, on-site therapeutic services to children and families at Konnect Therapy, located in the Woodbridge Metropolitan Area. Responsibilities include conducting intake assessments, developing treatment plans, and delivering individual and small-group play therapy sessions tailored to each child’s needs. The role involves using play-based and creative modalities to address emotional regulation, social skills, trauma, and behavioral concerns, while maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation. The therapist will collaborate with caregivers, educators, and other professionals to coordinate care, provide feedback and psychoeducation, and support generalization of skills across settings. The Play Therapist is also expected to participate in team meetings, case consultations, and ongoing training to maintain high clinical standards and current best practices.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in play-based clinical work, including Play Therapy and Child Therapy.
- Credentials or eligibility as a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) or equivalent certification in play-focused therapeutic practice.
- Experience working with children across developmental stages, with strong skills in building rapport and managing child and family dynamics.
- Competence in integrative, creative modalities such as Art Therapy or related expressive therapies.
- Master’s degree or higher in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related mental health field, with active or eligible licensure in the state of practice.
- Strong assessment, treatment planning, and documentation skills, with commitment to evidence-based and trauma-informed care.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with families, schools, and multidisciplinary teams, and to maintain professional boundaries and ethical standards.
- Availability to work part-time on-site, with some flexibility to accommodate family schedules (e.g., after-school or early evening hours).
