Compensation: $34.00 - $52.00 per hour

Job Summary:
The Quality Engineer provides leadership and support to cross-functional teams to help ensure the delivery of high-quality products and the achievement of operational objectives. This role collaborates closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Production Management, and team leadership to drive quality initiatives and continuous improvement efforts across manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with a proactive approach to problem-solving, quality assurance, and team collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, and Production Management to achieve shared performance objectives and metric-driven goals
- Continuously audit department processes and procedures to ensure quality requirements are met or exceeded
- Lead Material Review Board (MRB) activities to evaluate and determine disposition of nonconforming products
- Lead cross-functional teams in conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and driving Corrective Action (CA) initiatives to address quality concerns
- Lead continuous improvement projects utilizing Lean principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and other process improvement tools to enhance quality, efficiency, and operational performance
- Establish and maintain process controls to minimize scrap and rework, reduce associated costs, and improve first-time yield
- Develop and maintain inspection work instructions and quality control plans to support manufacturing processes and final product acceptance
- Lead product or process FMEAs during product and process development as needed
- Implement and/or improve Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies to the appropriate level in support of continuous improvement efforts
- Develop and revise quality procedures to standardize work processes and ensure compliance with regulatory, AS9100, and customer requirements
- Develop, implement, and maintain key performance metrics that support organizational goals and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Develop and deliver presentations, as appropriate, to audiences at all levels within the organization
- Foster and promote passion in advancing Lean, continuous improvement, and quality concepts
- Conduct Design of Experiments (DOE) to support root cause investigations, corrective actions, and process optimization initiatives
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with hands-on quality manufacturing experience, preferably within the aerospace industry
- Working knowledge of blueprint interpretation and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ANSI Y14.5 standards
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Minitab
- Proficiency in quality and process control tools, including Statistical Process Control (SPC), Process Capability Analysis, Auditing, Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Expertise in root cause and corrective action (RCCA) methodologies, including 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, 8D, 7-Step Problem Solving, Corrective Action Requests (CAR), and other structured problem-solving approaches
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, and AS9102 standards, as well as applicable FAA regulations
- Comfortable making decisions in a fast-paced and continuously evolving work environment
- Strong commitment to continuous improvement and the ability to facilitate and drive improvement efforts
- Ability to provide leadership and training to direct reporting personnel as required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Quality teams, and Management
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a standard office environment and operate standard office equipment, including computers and related technology
- Ability to sit for extended periods and maintain attention to detail despite frequent interruptions
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 25 pounds
- Ability to perform occasional physical activities, including walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and bending, as required
- Ability to read printed materials and computer screens, and effectively communicate in person, over the telephone, and through other business communication methods
- May require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, safety shoes, and a shop coat
