Job Title: Medical Records Coordinator
Location: Gardena, CA | Remote
Employment Type: Temporary | 4–10 Months
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM CST or 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM EST
Compensation: $18.00 per hour
Job Summary:
The Medical Records Coordinator plays a key role in supporting healthcare operations by maintaining accurate, organized, and confidential patient medical records in compliance with healthcare regulations. This position is responsible for ensuring timely access to complete medical documentation, helping facilitate efficient workflows within the medical mailroom. The role requires a proactive approach to record-keeping and data management, with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail. This position involves repetitive tasks and offers the opportunity to contribute to streamlined operations, enhanced patient safety, and the highest standards of confidentiality in healthcare documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and organize patient medical records, ensuring all documentation is accurate, complete, and up to date.
- Open and review files containing images of medical charts
- Edit and organize image files, including removing blank pages
- Identify member and provider names, along with other relevant details, within images
- Use software to match member and provider information from images to corresponding records
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Conduct regular audits of medical records to identify discrepancies or missing information and resolve issues promptly
Qualifications
Required:
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently while reviewing image-based tasks throughout the day
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion while maintaining confidentiality
- Effective communication skills with the ability to coordinate with staff and administrative teams
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook and Microsoft Teams
- Must be located in the EST or CST time zone
Preferred:
- Proven experience handling medical records
- Prior experience with medical records compliance standards and regulations
