Estimating, Construction

Estimator Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed mechanical cost estimates for medium to large plan/spec, design-assist, and design-build projects, including full quantity takeoffs using mechanical estimating software
- Review drawings, specifications, and scope documents to determine labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor requirements
- Develop proposals, evaluate design options, and recommend cost-effective solutions aligned with project goals
- Obtain and analyze vendor and subcontractor pricing; track costs and compare actuals to bid estimates throughout the project lifecycle
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, and field teams while supporting other mechanical disciplines, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to a safety-focused culture
- 2 years of experience in mechanical estimating, engineering, or the trades
- Strong knowledge of plumbing, piping, or sheet metal systems
- Experience with mechanical estimating software, specifically AutoBid Mechanical and Sheet Metal, Bluebeam, Excel and Word
- Ability to interpret cost data and estimating systems
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Associate’s degree in engineering or a related technical field preferred
