Summary:
The School Counselor will serve as a key member of the student support team, delivering school-wide counseling services, supporting student mental health and wellness, providing academic and behavioral guidance, and collaborating with staff and families to foster a healthy school climate.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling to students
- Support crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and behavior de-escalation
- Deliver classroom lessons on SEL topics (e.g., friendship, conflict resolution, managing emotions)
- Collaborate with teachers, SPED staff, and administration to support student success
- Support parent engagement through regular communication and educational workshops
- Maintain records in compliance with FERPA and DOE standards
- Assist with implementation of the school's PBIS and 504 processes
- Participate in SST meetings and IEP meetings when appropriate
- Liaise with community mental health providers and services
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in School Counseling or a related field required
- Hawaii DOE licensure or eligibility for licensure preferred
- Experience working with diverse student populations, including SPED and 504 plans
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Preferred Skills:
- Background in trauma-informed care
- Familiarity with Waldorf or holistic education practices
- Experience with restorative practices and SEL curricula

Pay: $27,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
