Summary
Kömmerling USA, part of the profine Group, is seeking a motivated Line Operator – Extrusion to join our Production team in Huntsville. This position operates within a rotating shift model — typically four weeks on day shift followed by four weeks on night shift.
In this role, you will safely operate extrusion lines and downstream equipment to produce high-quality PVC sheets. You will be responsible for maintaining and verifying settings, conducting quality checks, and ensuring that products meet specifications and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate extrusion lines and downstream equipment safely and efficiently.
- Monitor and adjust machine settings to produce sheets according to specifications.
- Measure thickness, width, length, diagonal, and color of sheets using gauges, tape measures, and color-checking devices.
- Calculate density, sheet weight, and g/m using OPPS tools or manual calculations.
- Record production and quality data accurately in the OPPS system and on data sheets.
- Maintain cleanliness and order according to company standards.
- Comply with all environmental, health, and safety policies.
- Assist fellow operators and team members when necessary to ensure smooth operations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; technical training or on-the-job experience considered.
- Good verbal, written, and math skills.
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic and metric/standard measuring systems.
- Mechanical aptitude and basic computer skills.
- Ability to use measuring devices such as thickness gauges, tape measures, and temperature controllers.
- General knowledge of extrusion line elements, raw materials, and production processes.
- Ability to accurately record and track production data.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing/industrial facility setting.
- Must be able to push/pull 100 lbs and lift up to 75 lbs.
- Able to torque (pulling) up to 800 N·m (590 ft-lbs).
- Standing for extended periods, climbing step ladders while carrying up to 30 lbs, and working at heights up to 20 feet.
- Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Exposure to hot or cold industrial environments.
- Overtime and emergency coverage may be required.
