The team supporting our Komline-Harn brand of products has been delivering the highest quality membrane treatment system for our clients over the past 50 years. Whether it’s a full design build, membrane plant retrofit, or uniquely required service, through our dedication we consistently deliver on expectations.
The Senior Process Design Engineer will develop and optimize process designs for membrane treatment equipment. This includes assisting with the creation of technical proposals, designing process configurations, preparing detailed process documentation, and supporting manufacturing, testing, and commissioning. The Senior Process Design Engineer will bridge technical design with commercial objectives, ensuring that systems meet client performance specifications, regulatory standards, and cost targets.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) for custom-designed membrane treatment systems
- Design and size RO/NF and UF/MF systems along with potential ancillary equipment
- Prepare detailed process calculations, including flow, pressure, chemical dosing, and membrane performance
- Support project estimators by reviewing technical offers and design basis documents
- Provide process input for cost estimation, bill of materials, and project scheduling
- Perform process simulations and modeling using tools such as manufacturer’s proprietary design software or in-house calculation tools
- Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to ensure correct integration of process, instrumentation, and control systems
- Review and approve vendor and subcontractor technical documentation
- Support factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), commissioning, and troubleshooting of systems
- Ensure all process designs comply with client specifications, applicable codes (AWWA, ASTM, ISO), and environmental regulations
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Process Engineering (Master’s preferred)
- 7 years of experience in process design for membrane treatment equipment manufacturing
- Strong understanding of water chemistry, membrane technologies (RO, NF, UF, MF), and conventional treatment processes
- Proficiency in process simulation and design tools
- Knowledge of relevant design standards
- Ability to travel up to 10%
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in designing membrane treatment equipment
- Familiarity with 3D modeling and P&ID software, such as Solidworks
- Understanding of process automation and instrumentation (PLC/SCADA)
- equipment commissioning and performance testing involvement
