The Industrial Painter is responsible for applying paint and protective coatings to manufactured products to ensure a high-quality finish that meets company and customer specifications. The Industrial Painter will perform surface preparation, operation of spray equipment, and adherence to safety and quality standards in a production environment

This Opportunity
The Industrial Painter is responsible for applying paint and protective coatings to manufactured products to ensure a high-quality finish that meets company and customer specifications. The Industrial Painter will perform surface preparation, operation of spray equipment, and adherence to safety and quality standards in a production environment
Responsibilities
- Requisition or order paints as required while selecting proper paints, such as enamel, lacquer or epoxy, and solvents from storage area for units requiring painting and add thinner to paints for proper viscosity
- Fill and secure spray pots while checking work piece surfaces for dirt, moisture, rust or scratches and repair and rework minor surface imperfections
- Tape or mask equipment as required to prevent overspray
- Move and properly position work in spray booth and turn on fans and lightsOperate spray gun to paint products with uniform finish coatings of paint in various colors and textures to achieve proper quality level for type of product
- Apply primer coatings when required
- Maintain painting equipment and replace parts in units as necessary.
- Notify supervisor or unusual equipment or operating problems.
- Change filter, sweep, and clean lighting in spray booth area
- Utilize portable unit to paint machines on assembly floor
- Record daily attendance and production information on timekeeping system
- Follow safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition.
- High School diploma or GED and 1 year spray painting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of paints, catalysts, thinners, solvents and other ingredients used in the painting process
- Organized and able to perform work with minimal supervision
- Able to exercise good judgement and initiative
- Knowledge of proper safety precautions
