What are the responsibilities and job description for the Postdoctoral Fellow - Interventional Radiology Research position at Komen Graduate Training Program UT MDACC?
A postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Interventional Radiology to perform research on novel technologies in the field of interventional oncology procedures. The laboratory has a strong focus on translational and clinical research in image-guided loco-regional treatments such as thermal ablation for hepatic malignancies.
The postdoctoral fellow will be involved in the development and evaluation of novel image-processing techniques and image-based markers to improve image-guided loco-regional treatments including pre-procedure evaluation, intra-procedure guidance and decision making, and post-procedure follow-up. The postdoctoral fellow will work under the supervision of Dr. Iwan Paolucci and Dr. Bruno C. Odisio.
All duties and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The primary research focus will be to develop and evaluate novel image-processing methods for applications in loco-regional therapies for patient with liver cancer. The post-doctoral fellow will be working in a multi-disciplinary team with expertise in interventional radiology, AI/Machine Learning, image-processing, and radiomics. The fellow will gain knowledge and expertise in all of these areas and learn to apply these technologies to clinical problems.
Eligibility Requirements
An individual holding or soon to be obtained Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate in an appropriate field who is seeking a temporary appointment, under the supervision of a faculty mentor, involving full-time laboratory-based research or scholarship in preparation for an academic or research career as an independent investigator.
Programming experience in Python is a must. Experience with image-processing frameworks for cross-sectional imaging such as ITK, training of AI models (e.g. nnUNet), and basic statistical knowledge are advantageous.
