The Patient Care Technician on the Myeloma/Lymphoma unit at MD Anderson Cancer Center provides patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse and directly impacts patient comfort and outcome of care.

The ideal candidate must have a high school diploma, a CNA certification and hands-on patient care experience. The candidate must be available to work a combination of two 12 and two 8-hour shifts, Monday-Friday, with rotating weekends and holidays. Day/Evening (7:00am - 7:00pm, 7:00am - 3:00pm, 3:00pm - 11:00pm) or Evening/Night (7:00pm - 7:00am, 11:00pm- 7:00am, 3:00pm - 11:00pm).

P10 Surgical/Oncology is a specialized inpatient unit providing care for surgical oncology patients, including those undergoing complex cancer-related procedures. Nurses on this unit deliver pre- and post-operative care, manage pain and complications, and provide education and emotional support to patients and families.

Hourly Breakdown Of Salary Range

Minimum $18.27 - Midpoint $22.84 - Maximum $27.40

Essential Job Functions

  • Provides patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse.
  • Impacts patient comfort and outcome of care.
  • Acts as member of a multidisciplinary team that identifies and addresses patient care needs.
  • Assists in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, admit/discharge and obtaining vital signs.
  • Updates and retrieves patient information.
  • Ensures patient environment is maintained in a clean, safe and orderly manner.
  • Acts as part of an assigned care team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Education Preferred: None.

Experience Required: None

Experience Preferred: One year experience in an acute care hospital setting as a Nursing Assistant.

Licensure/Certification Required: None.

Licensure/Certification Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

Other Required: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
