Technical Designer – Intimates
Komar, a global consumer products company specializing in the design, marketing, sourcing, and distribution of sleepwear, loungewear, layering, and intimates, is seeking a Technical Designer for our Intimates division. The position requires the ability to work in our Jersey City, NJ corporate office up to 3 days a week.
Position Summary
The Technical Designer partners closely with Design, Production, and overseas teams to ensure fit intent, consistency, construction accuracy, and timely execution from concept through production. This role is responsible for managing all technical aspects of product development, with a strong focus on fit, garment construction, and communication with cross-functional team and factory partners.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, collaborative, and experienced in intimate apparel category.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain detailed technical packages including specifications, grading, and fit comments in partnership with Design
- Lead in-person fit sessions and communicate fit corrections and approvals to overseas factories and vendors
- Ensure fit intent and consistency are maintained across brands, retailers, and product categories
- Review and approve samples throughout development, including PPS and TOP samples
- Track sample approvals and support adherence to development calendars and key milestones
- Collaborate with Design, Production, and overseas teams to resolve technical and construction issues
- Evaluate garment fit and recommend appropriate corrective actions to achieve optimal fit and functionality
- Maintain measurement standards and ensure accuracy of specifications throughout development and production
Qualifications & Technical Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or related field preferred
- 5 years of Technical Design experience in intimate apparel
- Strong experience in bra fit and construction a must
- Experience working with licensed brands and major retailers including Clubs
- Strong understanding of intimate apparel construction and fit, with expertise in bras, panties, and seamless product categories
- Ability to evaluate fit issues and communicate clear corrective actions
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Adobe Illustrator, use of PLM a plus
- Knowledge of grading, garment measurements, and technical construction standards
- Experience managing fit communication with overseas factories and vendors
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple brands and deadlines simultaneously
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Salary : $88,000 - $96,000
