Assistant Designer - Sleepwear

Passionate about sleepwear! We are seeking an Assistant Designer who has a vision for creating innovative and viable product that reflects our design direction and business strategy.

Komar, a global consumer products company specializing in the design, marketing, sourcing, and distribution of sleepwear, loungewear, layering, and intimates has an immediate opportunity for an Assistant Designer for our contemporary sleepwear team in our state of the art office located at 90 Hudson Street, Jersey City, NJ. This position requires the ability to work in the office 3 business days each week.

Responsibilities include:

• Contribute to designing a line that reflects the aesthetic of the brands and a solid understanding of the customer.
• Execute original design sketches; strong artistic skill needed and excellent technical skills using Photoshop and Illustrator, MS Word and Excel. Good color sense and understanding of prints.
• Assist in the preparation of concept, fabric and design presentation boards.
• Collaborate with technical design team and production to ensure accurate and timely sample development; participate in fittings.
• Assist with preparing tech packages for production and technical design teams which include construction details, sketches, fabrications, trim sheets and colors.
• Shop the market and trend resources for design inspiration.
• Assist in other special projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• 1 years of women’s fashion design work experience or design internship experience.
• Strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite - Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Working knowledge of garment construction and textiles.
• Strong collaborator with excellent communication, interpersonal, and follow-up skills.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task effectively.
• Positive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, creative environment.
