Senior Buyer - Purchasing

• Key Responsibilities
• Purchase and coordinate the distribution of materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies per blueprints and requisitions.
• Create Material Buy lists from engineering-released drawings and work orders.
• Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
• Analyze and recommend purchasing processes that minimize time and cost while maximizing quality and reducing waste
• Work with department leads to ensure materials are ordered promptly for production.
• Locate vendors of materials, equipment, or supplies, and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sales.
• Organize and generate a list of materials ordered and expected delivery date. Follow up on ordered materials to ensure timely delivery.
• Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures. Maintain records of goods ordered and received.
• Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products, or substitute materials.
• Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.
• Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers.
• Review, evaluate, and approve specifications for issuing and awarding contracts.
• Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
• Administer online purchasing systems in the NetSuite ERP System.

Inventory

• Monitor and control company resources and inventory to ensure an adequate stock of core supplies.
• Manage production inventory of items received, on hand, and used.

Special Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

• BS in Business Administration, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering
• 5-7 years of experience in purchasing for a manufacturing company or related industry.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint
• Knowledge of inventory and procurement software as well as advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
• Strong decision-making and negotiating skills
• Good mathematical and mechanical aptitude
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Blueprints are typically Fabrication and Machining manufacturing drawings.
• Ability to receive and retain instructions productively; ability to prioritize; keep multiple projects and tasks on schedule
• Able to use own initiative and work as part of a team
