Inventory Lead –

Department: Retail Operations

Reports To: General Manager

Location: Kolas Dispensary – Multiple Locations Available

Position Summary

The Inventory Lead plays a critical role in maintaining accurate, compliant, and secure inventory across all cannabis products in their store. This role oversees daily inventory functions, ensures METRC accuracy, prevents loss, and supports both Retail and Call Center teams through timely product updates and communication. The Inventory Lead is a hands-on position requiring strong attention to detail, compliance knowledge, and cross-department collaboration. This role is also responsible for overseeing and managing theft prevention measures and ensuring all new brands and SKUs are communicated clearly to retail and call center teams when applicable.

Key ResponsibilitiesInventory Management

  • Oversee daily counts, audits, and reconciliations in METRC and POS systems.
  • Receive, verify, and intake product deliveries in compliance with California cannabis regulations.
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels on the sales floor and in backstock; proactively address shortages or surpluses.
  • Ensure all products are labeled, tagged, and functional for scanning before being placed on the sales floor.

Compliance & Theft Prevention

  • Maintain real-time accuracy in METRC for all transfers, manifests, and adjustments.
  • Quarantine expired, damaged, or recalled products per SOP and log appropriately.
  • Oversee and manage theft prevention protocols including monitoring storage and sales floor for risks.
  • Report suspected theft or product discrepancies immediately to management and ensure corrective actions are taken.

Communication & Coordination

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all inventory matters during assigned shifts.
  • Communicate new product launches, new brands, new SKUs, promotions, and relevant inventory updates to both Retail and Call Center teams when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Compliance, and Retail Management to resolve inventory discrepancies and streamline operations.

Training & Support

  • Train and guide budtenders and call center staff on proper inventory handling procedures.
  • Support management in implementing process improvements and maintaining compliance standards.

Organization & Security

  • Keep all inventory storage areas organized, clean, and secure.
  • Prepare promotional inventory in advance to ensure smooth launches.
  • Follow all store security procedures, including access controls and surveillance protocols.

Job Details

  • Job Type: Full-Time
  • Salary: Starting at $22.00 per hour
  • Expected Hours: 32-40hrs per week

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years inventory, retail, or related experience (cannabis preferred).
  • Familiarity with METRC, Leaf Logix, or similar inventory tracking systems.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail is meticulous.
  • Must be 21 and able to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite (Sheets) and internet-based software.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Stand/walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Work in a secure, fast-paced retail environment with moderate to high noise levels.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 per hour
