Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Certified Structural Welder to join our dynamic fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing precise welding operations on structural steel components, ensuring all work meets strict safety standards and industry quality benchmarks. Your expertise will contribute to the successful completion of large-scale construction and manufacturing projects, where attention to detail and adherence to specifications are paramount. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects that require mechanical knowledge, blueprint interpretation, and advanced welding techniques.
Duties
- Read and interpret complex mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine welding requirements and procedures.
- Perform structural welding using FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) techniques in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards and ASME codes.
- Measure and mark metal materials accurately using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math to ensure precise fabrication.
- Operate power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment to cut, shape, and assemble sheet metal and metal components.
- Utilize rigging and pipe threading skills for assembly and installation of structural elements on-site or in the shop.
- Maintain strict safety protocol adherence while working on construction sites or fabrication shops, including forklift operation when necessary.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure quality control, proper assembly, and timely completion of projects while adhering to schematics and technical specifications.
Requirements
- Proven construction site experience with a strong understanding of metal fabrication processes.
- Certified as a Structural Welder by recognized authorities such as AWS or equivalent certifications.
- Extensive experience with various welding techniques including FCAW, MIG, TIG, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, mechanical drawings, and interpret technical diagrams accurately.
- Proficiency with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math for precise measurements.
- Mechanical knowledge of fabrication shop operations, machinery, power tools, rigging, pipe threading, plasma cutting, press brake machines, and soldering.
- Familiarity with ASME codes & standards related to structural welding projects.
- Construction or manufacturing experience involving ductwork or metal materials is highly desirable.
- Strong safety awareness with the ability to follow safety protocols diligently in all work environments.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced settings while maintaining high-quality standards.
