Duckstache Hospitality is excited to announce that we are looking for a talented hospitality professional to join our team as a host for the opening of our latest concept. This position is part time, working a fixed schedule, and must be available to work weekends. As a host on out team you are paid hourly, and works alongside servers and sushi chefs.
About Kokoro
Chefs Patrick Pham and Daniel Lee have over 30 years of combined experience in Japanese cuisine and sushi. They established their culinary careers in Houston where they worked together for four years at an award-winning Japanese restaurant. Pham and Lee teamed up to bring new curated dining concepts to Houston’s food scene and kicked off a series of omakase pop-up dinners called Secret Taste. In 2019 Pham and Lee opened Kokoro Sushi and Yakitori in the Bravery Chef Hall in Downtown Houston, and following their success opened Handies Douzo shortly after along with Aiko & Himari. Kokoro Handroll Bar - The Woodlands expanded the Kokoro brand, joining the lineup of Kokoro Sushi and Yakitori - Downtown Houston, along with two Kokoro Handroll Bar locations in Dubai.
Job Purpose
Hosts are responsible for ensuring all guests enjoy their time with us. This includes greeting and seating guests, taking incoming phone calls, making reservations, helping maintain the overall cleanliness of the restaurant, and performing daily duties to facilitate a smooth flow of service.
Duties and Responsibilities
The primary job duties and responsibilities of a host include but are not limited to the following:
- Welcome and seat guests on arrival.
- Take incoming phone calls.
- Help with take out orders.
- Manage reservations on OpenTable.
- Must learn and be knowledgeable of the food and beverage menus.
- Prepare restaurant for service.
- Ability to use Point of Service computer system (POS) to enter guests’ food and beverage orders when necessary.
- Cash handling of guests checks including credit card payments utilizing a POS system
- Conducts oneself at the highest level.
- Must adhere to sanitation, safety, and food regulations.
- Must maintain and uphold dress code standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Duckstache Hospitality requires the minimum qualifications to successfully perform the position of host.
Language:
- Fluent speaking, reading, and writing: English.
Qualifications:
- 1 years of relevant experience
- TABC Certified
- Texas Food Handlers certificate
- Outstanding guest service skills
- Ability to memorize recipes and beverage lists
- Flexible availability in scheduling
- Capacity to multitask
- Ability to work as part of a team
Working Conditions
The incumbent will be working in a restaurant setting, on the floor with guests, in the kitchen and dish area. Potential hazards include but are not limited to cuts, slipping, tripping, falls and burns. Frequent hand washing is required.
Physical Requirements
The incumbent is required to stand/walk for long periods of time. Incumbent is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and be able to constantly move around in the restaurant.
