Exercise Science Teacher (Part-Time)  

Kokomo Area Career Center

Job Summary:  Provide instruction and supervision to students enrolled in Kokomo Area Career Center; provide diverse learning opportunities; revise curriculum; and participate in district and building level professional development.

Certification and Qualifications:  Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy or Athletic Training; valid license in Physical Therapy or Athletic Training in the State of Indiana; prefer 4,000 hours of industry experience in the last 10 years or has a current Workplace Specialist teacher license; strong professional skills and interpersonal communication; ability to learn technology background working with high school students preferred; ability to build partnerships in the community and region.  

Key Responsibilities: 

1. Assess and document student progress, providing feedback to students and parents.
2. Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and collaborative planning.
3. Supervise students during school activities, field trips, and breaks.
4. Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet students' varying needs.
5. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and behavior.
6. Comply with school policies, state regulations, and ethical teaching standards.

Physical Requirements:

1. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during classroom instruction and supervision.
2. Manual dexterity to operate classroom technology and equipment.
3. Visual and auditory ability to monitor student behavior and respond to classroom situations.
4. Ability to move quickly in response to student safety needs.
5. Ability to perform light physical activities—such as bending, kneeling, and reaching—as required in a classroom setting, as well as lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
