What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bindery Operator position at Koke New Century?
Position Primary Purpose: To perform bindery functions by properly operating equipment or performing hand labor as specified on work orders.
Essential Functions
Determine specifications and perform bindery operations on work orders with appropriate utilization of bindery machines. May include guillotine cutters, mechanical folders, drills, round corner and stitching machines.
Perform manual labor operations specified on work orders with correct application of industry accepted practices. May include gathering signatures, jogging flat sheets, padding and other paper material handling.
Ensure product is acceptable within quality guidelines by monitoring runs for defects and performing adjustments as needed.
Maintain accurate accounting resource information by recording all labor functions, timespan on work orders and time cards in accordance with company policy
Secondary Functions
Maintain and repair bindery equipment by performing regularly scheduled inspections and maintenance as recommended by manufacturer and keeping records regarding all maintenance.

Previous Experience
Preferred 3 to 5 years of experience in operation and maintenance of all bindery equipment listed above.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Demonstrated Abilities
Extensive knowledge of print industry and components
Good hand eye coordination.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
High degree of mechanical aptitude.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Must be detail oriented.
Must be able to stay on task without supervision.
Must be organized and able to handle multiple tasks.
Continuous performance of basic numeric calculations as well as writing, reading, comparing and analyzing.
Ability and willingness to treat customers and coworkers in a manner consistent with Koke New Century’s mission and values
Physical
Continuous standing or sitting for extended periods of time when providing services and carrying out other responsibilities. Lifting to 35 pounds unassisted. Pulling and or pushing exerting force up to 50 pounds with equipment that assists. Bending, squatting, or kneeling to reach and work with equipment on ground and machine level. Reaching above shoulder level to reach supplies overhead. Continuous use of hands in repetitive tasks such as grasping, twisting/turning of wrists; finger dexterity to perform various duties with tools required. Continuous speaking and hearing for interactions with customers, supervisors and coworkers. Color determination without color blindness. Continuous clarity of vision at 20 inches or more for machine operating purposes.
Mental
General intelligence, continuous motor coordination skills, continuous alertness due to equipment and machinery surroundings. Frequent use of judgment, reasoning, and patience, in solving issues.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a manufacturing/printing press environment and requires mobility within the production work area. Exposure to constant and intermittent sounds of machinery in a production environment. Exposed to extreme temperature changes around machinery. Exposure to various chemicals used in operating printing presses to include dusts fumes vapors or mists.
Salary : $18 - $20
