Job Description
The primary duty of a Material Handler is to move raw material, in-process and finished goods from their current queue to the next stage of the process. The Material Handler maintains production and distribution of product by pulling orders from inventory, delivering production materials/supplies and staging finished product. This includes the utilization of a crane and/or forklift to meet these goals.
Role and Responsibilities
· Move and stage goods as they flow through the production process
· Locates material and supplies by pulling and verifying materials/supplies listed on production orders
· Maintains in-process inventory in WIP area by locating goods according to production schedule
· Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, wrapping, and placing materials and supplies in stock
· Ensure machines are fully stocked with in-process goods and relocating finished orders to make room for next order
· Unloading flatbeds and containers as incoming shipments arrive with raw material and follow material receiving instructions
· Use TransAction inventory system to place finished goods into system
· Communicate with operators as to what their needs are in regards to In-process goods, containers, and order status
· Utilize overhead cranes, pallet jacks and forklifts to move the necessary materials through production process
· Assist in maintaining the shop floor in a neat, clean and orderly fashion
· Remove scrap materials and refuse from work floor daily
Qualifications and Education Requirements
The candidate should be self-starter and possess a strong mechanical aptitude. Must be a team player and have good communication, interpersonal skills, and a team-oriented focus. Strong organization and prioritizing are necessary traits for this position.
Pay: From $16.00 per hour
