Role Description The Design Consultant role is a full-time, on-site position based in Miami, FL. The Design Consultant will guide customers through bathroom and kitchen projects, providing expert advice on product selection, finishes, and layouts to align with style, budget, and functional needs. This role involves conducting in-store consultations, preparing design concepts or mood boards, and creating detailed product proposals and quotes. The Design Consultant will manage the sales process from first contact through order completion, including follow-up communication and coordination with internal teams and trade professionals. Responsibilities also include maintaining visually appealing displays, staying current on KOHLER product lines and design trends, and ensuring a welcoming, inclusive showroom environment for all visitors.
Qualifications
- Strong customer-facing abilities, including Customer Service skills and a consultative approach to understanding client needs.
- Proven Sales skills, with experience meeting or exceeding sales goals and managing a sales pipeline in a showroom or retail environment.
- Knowledge of Interior Design principles, particularly for kitchens and bathrooms, and the ability to translate design concepts into practical product solutions.
- Familiarity with Furniture and Furnishings, and how these elements integrate with fixtures, finishes, and overall room layouts.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly to diverse customers and trade partners.
- Comfort using design tools, CRM systems, and basic office software to create proposals, track opportunities, and manage customer information.
- Ability to work on-site full time, including some evenings or weekends as business needs require.
- Previous experience in a showroom, retail design, or home remodeling environment is preferred; experience with kitchen and bath products is a plus.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field is beneficial but not required with equivalent experience.
