About The Role
As an Early Childhood Teacher, you will provide daily care to an assigned group of children at Kohl’s Child Development Center (CDC). You will collaborate with a co-teacher to execute classroom duties such as: active supervision of children inside the classroom and outdoors, meeting basic needs of children, and providing a fun, safe and engaging learning environment based on the children’s developmental needs and interests.
What You’ll Do
- Accurately track children in your care and provide active supervision while maintaining the children’s health and safety
- Complete all classroom paperwork and licensing forms to maintain compliance and adhere to center policies
- Follow appropriate child guidance techniques and redirect children as needed
- In accordance with our reflective planning philosophy, partner with co-teacher to bring in materials that foster new learning and play opportunities, providing children with autonomy over their learning
- Create anecdotal notes based on observations you make while engaging with the children by asking questions, and playing alongside them
- Create and maintain a safe, clean, organized and engaging learning environment
- Discuss child’s development during pick up, drop off, and regularly scheduled parent meetings
- Utilize parent communication app to write meaningful messages informing parents of learning goals and interests of their child
- Meet age appropriate requirements for charting all basic needs of the child in communication app (diaper changes, feeding, nap, etc)
- Attend all staff meeting and required trainings to meet yearly continuing education requirements
- Maintain confidentiality of the children, parents and co-workers
- Assist the overall center operations when your classroom is in ratio
- Maintain all state required trainings including but not limited to: preventing abusive head trauma, child abuse and neglect reporting requirements, First Aid and Infant/Child CPR with AED training
- Additional tasks may be assigned
What Skills You Have
- Introduction to Child Care Profession (Early Childhood I or equivalent)
- Skills and Strategies for the Child Care Teacher (Early Childhood II or equivalent)
- Fundamentals of Infant/Toddler Development Certified or equivalent (For Infant/Toddler Primaries)
- Have at least 240 hours of experience as an assistant child care teacher in a group child care center, as a licensed family child care provider, or in another approved early childhood setting
- Treat all children, parents, peers, leaders, vendors and business partners with dignity and respect
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with peers and leaders to ensure the safety and needs of the children are met
- Excellent problem solving skills, and the ability to stay calm and follow policies and actions plans in high stress or emergency situations
- Demonstrated leadership behaviors
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong customer service skills to build welcoming and inclusive relationships with children, parents, peers, leaders, vendors and business partners
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
- Multiple years of experience in Early Childhood Education
Salary : $17
