Duties
- Perform precise meat cutting and trimming using specialized butchery tools and meat processing machines to achieve desired cuts and presentation standards
- Prepare meat products through slicing, portioning, and packaging while adhering to food safety sanitizing procedures
- Conduct visual inspections for quality control, ensuring all products meet freshness and safety standards
- Handle fish and other perishable goods with proper food handling techniques to prevent contamination
- Assist customers with meat selections, provide knowledgeable advice on cuts and preparation methods, and deliver excellent customer service
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations by following strict sanitization protocols in accordance with food safety management practices
- Manage inventory levels of perishable goods, monitor expiration dates, and ensure proper storage of all meat products
Experience
- Previous retail store experience in food production or meat processing environments preferred
- Hands-on experience operating meat processing machines and performing butchery tasks such as slicing, trimming, and meat preparation
- Strong knife skills with proficiency in slicing techniques and visual inspection for quality assurance
- Knowledge of food safety procedures including sanitizing practices, food handling regulations, and perishable goods management
- Familiarity with kitchen or culinary environments, including restaurant or food industry experience involving food preparation and knife work
- Ability to perform basic math calculations related to weight measurements, pricing, and inventory management
- Excellent customer service skills with experience assisting customers in a retail or food service setting
