Position Summary:
Kodo Kids Workshop is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual for the role of Material Handler, Sanding, and Finishing Support. This position supports the finishing department by handling materials, assisting with sanding processes, and supporting spray finishing operations. The role also includes training to become a backup for the Finisher Sprayer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Material Handling:
- Safely handle and transport materials to and from the spray booth.
- Stage materials so they are prepared and ready for finishing operations.
- Play a crucial role in staging materials, ensuring they are prepared and ready for the Finisher Sprayer.
- Sanding and Finishing Support:
- Perform denibbing and knock-down sanding to support high-quality finishes.
- Assist the finishing team in maintaining product quality standards.
- Support finishing operations involving polyurethane coatings on wood products.
- Spraying Operations:
- Lift and position wood pieces in the spray booth.
- Assist with application of sand sealer and water-based polyurethane using an airless spray gun.
- Shop Support:
- Wear required PPE including respirators/dust masks, eye protection, and hearing protection.
- Assist with product assembly from inventory when needed.
- Safety Measures:
- Wear a dust mask/respirator, eye protection, and hearing protection.
- Follow all shop safety procedures.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Participate in training to become a backup for the Finisher Sprayer role.
- Collaborate with the team to organize and maintain an efficient staging area.
- Undertake other duties and assignments as delegated.
Working Conditions: Encountered regularly as part of the work this job performs.
Employees in this role will regularly:
· Operate hand tools and power tools including sanders, routers, and drills.
· Climb ladders to manage or access inventory.
· Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach during normal work activities.
· Lift and move materials weighing up to 35 pounds.
Work Environment:
· Noise levels may range from moderate to loud.
· Some exposure to airborne dust or finishing materials may occur.
· Required PPE will be provided.
· The facility is climate-controlled, though seasonal temperature and humidity fluctuations may occur.
Skills / Knowledge
- High school diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to work safely in a woodworking and finishing environment.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort using tools.
Experience:
- Previous experience in material handling, sanding, or finishing is advantageous.
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Employment Details

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Job Type: Seasonal / Temporary
Full-time: Up to 40 hours per week
Part-time: Flexible hours available depending on production needs
