Location: Main Elementary, Kodiak Alaska
Hours: 6 hrs/day, 5 days/week, 9.5 month
Salary: Entry Range 11.5, Step 1: $19.50 per hour

Position Summary
Employees occupying positions in this classification are responsible for performing a variety of clerical and or secretarial duties within a school office or department as directed by the Secretary II, III or supervisor. Work is performed according to established procedures with little variance from these procedures required. Once the employee experiences all tasks of the position, work is performed independently. Direction will be given when new or unusual tasks are assigned. Work is reviewed in progress and upon completion for accuracy, productivity and accordance to district policies and procedures.

Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent and experience or training in general office procedures.
- Rapid, accurate typing 40 wpm minimum.
- Ability to work well with public, students, staff and parents.
- Operate current office technology as appropriate.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of students, staff, school business, materials, and information.
- Ability to safely, regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Maintain specific or assigned filing system.
- Produce various correspondence and reports with reasonable speed and accuracy.
- Collect and distribute materials.
- Assist with travel arrangements as necessary.
- Alphabetize and/or file student paperwork, statistical data, etc., as required.
- Accept direction from Secretary II or III as necessary.
- Greet and direct parents and public and assist them as necessary either on the phone or in person.
- Give routing information in response to inquiries.
- Assist with student daily attendance records and student files as necessary.
- Act as substitute or backup for Secretary II or III as necessary for short periods of time.
- Be responsible for lunch money collection and deposits and federal school lunch program requirements.
- Perform assigned data entry.
- Assist in first aid as necessary.
- Assist in supervision of students who are sent to the school office when necessary.
- Assist with inventory of necessary materials for building operations.
- Maintain confidentiality of students, staff, school business, materials, and information.
- Assist with student enrollment.
- Other duties as assigned from time to time.
