Role Overview
The Project Engineer supports commercial mechanical construction projects by providing engineering, technical, and administrative support to Project Managers and field operations teams. This role plays a key part in maintaining quality standards, managing documentation, coordinating materials, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Project Engineers gain exposure to all phases of construction and are developed into future Project Managers, Estimators, and operational leaders.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering and business support onsite for commercial mechanical construction projects
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents
- Prepare, submit, and track Requests for Information (RFIs)
- Develop and manage submittals, O&M manuals, and project closeout documentation
- Coordinate equipment and material procurement with vendors and suppliers
- Assist in maintaining project schedules and supporting execution strategies
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, engineers, and field trades
- Support cost tracking, documentation, and change management processes
- Ensure work performed onsite meets design intent and quality standards
- Timely and accurate RFI and submittal processing
- Effective coordination of materials and vendor schedules
- Strong field and office communication across stakeholders
- Projects delivered in alignment with schedule and quality expectations
- Professional growth toward expanded project management responsibilities

- Reviewing project drawings and assisting with technical coordination
- Preparing and submitting RFIs and tracking responses
- Coordinating equipment deliveries with vendors
- Supporting Project Managers with documentation and reporting
- Meeting with field leadership to ensure alignment between scope and execution
- Assisting in schedule updates and project tracking
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Engineering Management, Building Construction, or related engineering discipline
- Strong interest in HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems
- Construction internship or project engineering experience preferred
- Mechanical aptitude and understanding of building construction processes
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate across departments and project teams
