Mechanical Foreman (Pipefitter/Welder)

Pay Range: $35–$52/hour

Location: Cincinnati, OH (travel to multiple project sites as needed)

Kodiak Labor Solutions is seeking an experienced Journeyman–Foreman Pipefitter/Welder for a direct-hire, long-term position supporting multiple commercial and industrial mechanical projects. This role is not project-specific or short-term.

This position is designed for a working foreman—someone who leads from the front. You will actively supervise crews, hold teams accountable, and remain fully engaged in pipefitting and welding work alongside your crew. This is not a spectator or clipboard-only role.

In addition, this is a service-focused position supporting existing commercial customers. While some installation work may be required, the role primarily involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining systems, with limited large-scale installation and minimal new construction.

Primary Responsibilities

Leadership & Supervision (Working Foreman Focus)

• Lead and supervise pipefitting and welding crews across multiple job sites as directed by project leadership
• Plan, assign, and oversee daily work activities to ensure productivity, quality, and schedule adherence
• Hold crews accountable for safety, workmanship, and performance while remaining productive in the field
• Serve as the primary point of contact between field crews and project leadership
• Coordinate materials, tools, equipment, and manpower to support efficient job execution

Hands-On Pipefitting & Welding

• Actively perform pipefitting, layout, preparation, installation, and welding as part of the crew
• Execute welding using SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and/or FCAW processes
• Read and interpret isometric drawings, P&IDs, and mechanical plans
• Install pipe supports, valves, pumps, and related mechanical components
• Assist with or lead hydrostatic and pneumatic testing

Service-Focused Technical Work

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial and industrial mechanical piping systems
• Troubleshoot complex system issues by asking the right questions, analyzing system performance, and collaborating with supervisors or peers when needed
• Reward curiosity and critical thinking—digging in to fully understand system issues before implementing solutions

Communication & Customer Interaction

• Maintain consistent, professional communication with dispatch to provide job updates, request support, and ensure accurate scheduling
• Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, explaining findings, recommended repairs, and next steps in a service-oriented manner
• Represent Kodiak Labor Solutions with professionalism at all customer sites

Required Qualifications

• 5 years of pipefitting and welding experience
• Proven ability to supervise, direct, and hold crews accountable while remaining hands-on and productive
• Multi-process welding proficiency
• Ability to pass weld tests (as required)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and blueprint-reading skills
• Ability to lift 50 lbs, work at heights, and work in confined spaces
• Prior leadership or foreman experience strongly preferred

Pay & Schedule

• $35–$52/hour, based on experience and certifications
• Full-time, direct-hire position
• Overtime and travel between job sites may be required
