Software Engineerto support the development of SIM/GDS (Simulation/Ground Data System) capabilities for the GeoXO program, NOAA's next-generation geostationary satellite constellation, in Denver, CO.
In this role, you will be a part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for delivering high-assurance software systems that enable mission simulation, spacecraft command and control, and end-to-end data processing for weather, climate, and environmental monitoring. You will support the definition, development, integration, and testing of software products that model spacecraft behavior and interface with ground systems to validate mission operations and data workflows.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain simulation software to emulate satellite subsystems and behaviors (SIM).
- Contribute to the architecture and implementation of ground data system software (GDS) for spacecraft command, telemetry processing, and mission data routing.
- Support automated test frameworks and simulation campaigns to validate spacecraft mission readiness.
- Collaborate with systems engineering, hardware, and operations teams to define software requirements and test cases.
- Integrate real-time and non-real-time software components in an operational mission support environment.
- Participate in Agile development cycles and contribute to DevSecOps pipelines for continuous integration and deployment.
- 5 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with software development in C , Python, or Java.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix operating systems and shell scripting.
- Experience with object-oriented programming and software lifecycle tools (e.g., Git, Jira, DOORS, Jenkins).
- Ability to read and interpret spacecraft telemetry and command data structures.
- Experience with satellite ground systems such as command and control, mission planning, and telemetry processing.
- Familiarity with STK (Systems Tool Kit), GMAT (General Mission Analysis Tool), or other mission simulation environments.
- Understanding of CCSDS (Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems) protocols and telemetry/telecommand standards.
- Prior work with NASA or NOAA flight/ground systems (e.g., GOES-R, JPSS, Landsat, etc.).
- Experience with Agile software methodologies and CI/CD frameworks.
- Experience with Open Architecture Data Distribution Service (DDS) or message bus middleware (e.g., Kafka, ZeroMQ).
- Knowledge of space vehicle simulators, simulink-based modeling, and closed-loop simulation environments.
