Die Maintenance Technician - 1st Shift
Location: Bowling Green, Kentucky, 42101
STARTING BASE PAY RATE: $19.00/hr
Die Maintenance Technician is responsible for the daily maintenance, upkeep and dies on the plant floor.
They are expected to maintain and care for the tools and dies so that they are always in proper working condition.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for the cleaning, and troubleshooting of tools and dies.
- Work with the production department with all tooling issues.
- File, grind, shim, and adjust different parts to properly fit them together.
- Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects.
- Smooth and polish flat and contoured surfaces of parts or tools, using scrapers, abrasive stones, files, emery cloths, or power grinders.
- Initiate and conduct preventative maintenance on all tools & dies.
- Attend necessary production meetings to acquire up-to-date information and provide input where needed regarding the tools/dies.
Job Related Functions:
- Operates all machinery and equipment in a safe manner.
- Fills out documentation as required.
- Responsible for keeping work area clean and orderly.
- Follows work instructions and procedures.
- Problem solving skills and deductive reasoning.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Other duties as assigned.
Special Safety Responsibilities:
- Receive and understand instructions on safe use and spill control of site hazardous chemicals, wastes, and contingency plans for die maintenance and cleaning within six months of entering position.
- Wear appropriate PPE for all use, cleaning and disposal of hazardous wastes (caustic soda).
- Participate in annual hazardous waste training to ensure proper understanding of all hazardous waste handling, disposal procedures and contingency planning.
- Understand facility emergency and monitoring equipment, waste feed systems, emergency communications, emergency response and shutdown procedures in relation to facility hazardous wastes.
- Complete daily inspection of hazardous chemicals and waste tanks on a daily basis.
