POSITION OVERVIEW
KO'ʻOLAU DISTILLERY is seeking a results-driven Sales Manager to lead and expand distribution and retail sales across Hawaii and targeted mainland markets. This role is responsible for driving revenue growth, strengthening distributor relationships, and increasing brand presence in key accounts.
The Sales Manager will own performance against annual sales targets and play a critical role in scaling the business beyond current baseline revenue levels. Will work in a positive environment that values teams members and their contributions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Revenue Growth & Sales Execution
- Drive total annual sales beyond the established $300,000 baseline
- Develop and execute sales strategies to grow distribution, retail, and on-premise accounts
- Develop and manage person to person relationships with clients
- Identify and secure new account placements (retail, bars, restaurants, hotels, duty-free)
- Expand case volume with existing accounts through consistent follow-up and relationship management
Distributor & Account Management
- Manage relationships with distributors (e.g., Southern Glazer’s and other partners)
- Conduct ride-alongs and market visits to ensure product visibility and pull-through
- Support key accounts with staff training, tastings (where permitted), and merchandising
Brand Development
- Represent Koʻolau Distillery in the market as a premium, locally made, veteran-owned brand
- Execute grassroots marketing initiatives to support sales (events, tastings, partnerships)
- Ensure strong in-store presence, including displays and point-of-sale materials
Reporting & Forecasting
- Track and report weekly/monthly sales performance
- Maintain accurate pipeline and account activity records
- Provide forecasting and market feedback to ownership
COMPENSATION STRUCTURE
Base Salary
- $60,000 annually
- 10% Commission on all annual spirits sales above $300,000
- 10% commission on all distributed glassware sales above $10,000 annually
Performance Expectations
- Achieve and exceed $300K baseline spirits revenue
- Grow glassware sales beyond $10K annually
- Target overall growth toward $500K–$600K spirits sales
- Consistently open new accounts and expand distribution footprint
- Maintain strong relationships with key partners and accounts
Qualifications
- 3–7 years of sales experience (spirits, beverage alcohol, or CPG preferred)
- Experience working with distributors and retail/on-premise accounts
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Self-starter with the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Experience
- Experience in Hawaii market or similar regional markets
- Existing relationships with distributors, retailers, or hospitality groups
- Familiarity with compliance and regulatory considerations in alcohol sales
