What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Laser Operator | Production Tech position at KO Laser?
CNC Laser Operator / Production Technician
KO Laser / Kabash Outdoors - Tulsa, OK
Full-Time | $16 - $20/hour starting pay, based on experience
ABOUT US
KO Laser and Kabash Outdoors are growing American manufacturing businesses based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Kabash Outdoors manufactures American-made products for hunters and outdoorsmen, while KO Laser provides CNC laser cutting and metal manufacturing services to commercial customers.
We are a small company with big growth plans, and we are looking for people who want to grow with us.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a dependable, mechanically minded CNC Laser Operator / Production Technician to join our growing Tulsa shop.
Your primary responsibility will be operating our CNC fiber laser, but this is an all-around manufacturing position. This is not a job where you stand at one machine and say, "That's not my job" when something else needs done.
Depending on the day, you may be:
- Operating the CNC fiber laser and loading/unloading sheet metal
- Bending parts; grinding and deburring
- Powder coating and preparing material
- Packaging products and building inventory
- Helping with equipment maintenance, cleaning, and shop organization
- Welding, if you have the skills
- Helping improve our manufacturing processes
WE HIRE CHARACTER FIRST, SKILL SECOND
Manufacturing experience is valuable, but we believe skills can be taught. Character is much harder to teach.
Integrity - Do what's right even when nobody is watching.
Accountability - If you make a mistake, own it. We would rather know immediately than discover someone tried to hide it.
Initiative - When you finish your work, communicate that you are done and find the next productive task.
Problem solving - Try to understand and solve problems before immediately handing them to someone else.
Quality - Quality comes first. Speed comes second.
Respect - Treat coworkers, customers, and vendors the way you would want to be treated.
Team mentality - Nobody is too important to sweep the floor, pick up trash, move material, or help someone else.
Continuous improvement - If you see a better way to do something, we want to hear it.
Our company culture is rooted in Christian principles such as honesty, integrity, accountability, service, and treating others with respect. Employees are not required to share our faith, but everyone on our team is expected to uphold those standards.
EXPERIENCE
Previous manufacturing experience is helpful but not required for the right person. Experience with any of the following is a plus:
- CNC machinery or fiber lasers
- Press brakes, welding, or metal fabrication
- Powder coating
- Mechanical or automotive work
- Reading drawings and using measuring tools
- Forklifts or material handling
We are willing to train an entry-level candidate who has strong mechanical aptitude, work ethic, and the right attitude.
STARTING PAY
$16 - $20 per hour depending on experience and demonstrated skill.
- Entry-level candidates may start around $16/hour
- Candidates with useful manufacturing or mechanical experience may start around $18/hour
- Candidates bringing strong directly applicable skills may start around $20/hour
There is opportunity for increased responsibility and compensation as your capabilities and value to the company grow.
WHY WORK HERE?
We are not trying to build a shop where employees are just numbers. As a small and growing company, you will have the opportunity to learn multiple areas of manufacturing, work closely with the people building the business, contribute ideas, and take on greater responsibility as the company grows.
Our long-term goal is to build a strong American manufacturing company with opportunities for people who want to grow with it.
