The Senior Scheduling Manager is responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing detailed project schedules for commercial construction projects from initiation through completion. This new role will set Knutson’s scheduling strategy and ensure timely project delivery by coordinating with project managers, engineers, field staff, subcontractors, and clients to gather input, update schedules, and proactively identify and mitigate scheduling risks. This role holds enterprise-level accountability for schedule governance, drives decision-making authority on schedule strategy, and is measured by portfolio schedule predictability, milestone reliability, and risk mitigation effectiveness enterprise-wide.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Organizational Development
- Provide senior leadership to the scheduling function, including mentoring, performance management, succession planning, and professional development of scheduling staff.
- Strategically allocate scheduling resources across the portfolio to optimize capacity, consistency, and project outcomes
- Establish a high-performing, accountable team culture focused on collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Champion Lean construction principles and lead enterprise adoption of best practices, tools, and training initiatives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to project leadership, operations, and executive stakeholders.
- Own and advance enterprise-wide scheduling standards, methodologies, governance and training aligned with construction best practices and company objectives.
- Oversee development, integration, and maintenance of baseline and detailed schedules across all project phases and delivery models.
- Direct scenario planning, time impact analysis, and recovery planning to proactively manage change and uncertainty.
- Partner with business development, estimating, and self-perform teams to support pursuits, contract compliance, and execution strategies.
- Ensure accurate integration of productivity data, resource loading, and contractual requirements into master schedules.
- Monitor schedule performance across the portfolio, identifying trends, risks, and constraints that impact project delivery.
- Lead mitigation and contingency planning to address schedule risk, delays, and sequencing challenges.
- Conduct periodic field reviews to validate progress, sequencing logic, and constructability assumptions.
- Provide executive-level reporting including critical path analysis, milestone forecasting, and schedule risk assessment.
- Support claims, change management, and compliance efforts through clear documentation and defensible schedule analysis.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum 10 years of construction experience with dedicated construction scheduling experience.
- Proficiency in scheduling software (Oracle Primavera P6; supporting tools may include Excel, Power BI, Synchro, Navisworks, or equivalent.)
- Strong CPM (Critical Path Method) scheduling techniques.
- Basic understanding of project estimates to assist with schedule development, cost loading and resource loading of schedules.
- Thorough knowledge of standard construction practices, project sequencing and installation methods
- Ability to exercise creativity and mature judgment in independently anticipating, identifying, and solving problems on complex projects.
- Strong plan and specification reading, review and interpretation skills with ability to identify concerns in document review. Knowledge of project management, buyout, and contracts
- Working knowledge of 4D visual planning methodologies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with initiative to seek innovative solutions.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in handling project data.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Certifications such as PSP (Planning & Scheduling Professional), PMI-SP (PMI Scheduling Professional), PMP, or CAPM.
- Familiarity with Lean construction principles and practices.
- Experience with Data Center/Mission Critical project types.
- Combination of office and field work; may require travel to project sites. Expected travel may range from approximately 10–30% depending on project portfolio; role may support a hybrid work environment when not site-required.
