Locomotive - Field Service Technician

Knoxville Locomotive Works is a locomotive manufacturer of single-engine Tier 4 locomotives.

Responsibilities

Field Service Technicians serve KLW customers by providing preventative maintenance such as oil, fluid, filter changes, and annual locomotive inspections. Repairs, in-field modifications and warranty items are corrected while onsite of KLW customer outdoor locations in Philadelphia, PA.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

Experience

• Servicing and repairing heavy equipment. (History of locomotive mechanical work is a plus)

Technical Skills

• Working knowledge of diesel engines, heavy duty axles, air compressors, pumps
• Understanding of electrical systems/ability to read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics
• Comfortable speaking to customers at all levels
• Computer literate (must be able to navigate and submit electronic work orders, search electronic part manuals, diagnose electrical problems with computer software, etc.)
• Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and solve issues in the field
• Follow updated work instructions and/or schematics
• Properly complete inspection forms and repair work orders
• Blue Flag Protection Rules
• Secure locomotives according to all rules an regulations while working
• Complete all locomotive inspections following FRA and Company guidelines
• Weekly inspections will be performed at the PA customer location

Other Requirements

• Must have a Valid Driver’s License

Travel

• This position is based full-time at a dedicated customer site in Philadelphia, PA with no travel required at this time.
• Once the current project concludes, travel may be required for future customer assignments.

Working Conditions

• Field environment
• Requires walking, standing, sitting, moderate to heavy lifting
• Exposure to outside temperatures in all weather conditions
• Must be able to work some weekends, holidays, overtime, emergency repair as needed
• Must have the ability to work alone
• 24/7 On-Call with Scheduled Maintenance - Work will be scheduled ahead, whenever possible, however urgent repairs or issues require you to be available and report promptly to job sites.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
