What are the responsibilities and job description for the One to One Aide position at Knox County Head Start?
Job Opportunity: One to One Aide
About Knox County Head Start: Knox County Head Start (KCHS) is a leading provider of quality early childhood education in our community. We are dedicated to creating a nurturing and supportive environment that promotes the holistic development of young minds. As we continue to expand our team, we are excited to offer an exceptional opportunity for a passionate individual to connect individually with a child and assist them in having a positive school experience.
Position Overview: The right candidate will join our team as a trusted one-on-one aide to a specific child, guiding them through their day and assisting them in making helpful choices in the classroom. The team member will assist the child in making positive connections with peers, using classroom materials correctly, and transitioning between activities safely. At times, this individual may remove the child from the classroom to spend time in a quiet sensory room to allow them to practice active calming techniques and regain composure.
This position would be perfect for someone who finds it easy to connect with young children and has a genuine love for people. Experience in working with children with a history of trauma and an understanding of how traumatic experiences can shape behavior in young children is ideal.
This is a newly created position designed to meet the needs of a particular child. Hours will be based on that child's typical classroom schedule and can be negotiated somewhat during the hiring process. It is our hope that this position is only needed temporarily until this child builds skills to function in the classroom without this level of intensive support. A successful employee will have opportunities to continue with the agency in another capacity with this assignment is completed.
