Health Department is seeking a Public Health Nurse (RN) to join our Family Health
Division. This role is ideal for a nurse who values prevention, education, and community-

Job Summary:
The Public Health Nurse rile involves patient assessment, case management,
documentation, education, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The Public Health Nurse
plays a key role in connecting clients to essential resources, supporting family-centered
care, and improving health outcomes throughout Knox County.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide direct public health nursing services to individuals and families.
2. Facilitate referrals and connect clients to appropriate support systems.
3. Complete all documentation required for billing, grant compliance, and patient
records.
4. Maintain accurate statistical data and perform daily electronic case
documentation.
5. Deliver professional nursing care with established clinical protocols.
6. Provide nutritional education to women, children, and families as scheduled.
7. Attend assigned trainings, workshops, and continuing education sessions.
8. Work in a self-directed environment and demonstrate leadership when
collaborating with peers and community partners.
9. Interact respectfully and effectively with clients and families in varied environments.
10. Utilize Microsoft Office programs and agency software systems proficiently.
11. Perform other nursing and departmental duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Active Illinois license as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Strong interest in community and family health issues.
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory and public health practices.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to perform public health nursing duties both independently and under
